Am Fuße des Fuji befindet sich die Stadt Mishima. Wir waren bereits mehrfach in dieser Gegend, beispielsweise auf der anderen Seite des Ashi-Sees, doch bis nach Mishima hatten wir es bisher nicht geschafft. Daher war es nun an der Zeit, das Städtchen und vor allem den Skywalk dort zu besuchen. Der Skywalk ist eine riesige Brücke, von welcher aus, man das ganze Jahr über einen tollen Blick auf Mount Fuji hat. Und um die Brücke herum, gibt es jede Menge Attraktionen – schaut selbst in der Galerie, was es dort alles gibt!
Mishima ist zugleich auch der Zugangspunkt zur Izu-Halbinsel. Mit nur 120 km Entfernung nach Tokio und Chiba (mit den Schnellzügen also super schnell zu erreichen) ist die Halbinsel eines der beliebtesten Naherholungsgebiete Japans. In diesen Genuss wollten auch wir kommen, daher trafen wir uns mit Junya und Mel dort und unternahmen kleine Touren an der Jogasaki-Küste und im Fuji-Hakone-Izu-Nationalpark.
